new social networking? yes please.
so i discovered today that iTunes started a social networking site and to be honest…i may have peed my pants a little. [okay a lot]. so of course, like any other normal person i set out to make myself a profile on this new avenue for bitching about my life. i was thinking “hooray! new people to complain to about the random horrible things that happen in my life!”. but my tinkering with ping has left me confused and unimpressed.
just like a crack addict…
i pretty much jump through flaming hoops to update/access/check my social networking sites [twitter/facebook/etc.]. and yes, i realize this is a sad way to live life but i honestly can’t help it.
however, when i’m not near a computer or i’m away from the internet, i can function just like a normal member of society.
seriously…i update twitter and facebook like…a dozen times a day [seperately].
but anyway.
i made a ping today. and…well…it is kind of…i don’t know…terrible.
basically it is like a more personal version of purevolume. i mean, i love purevolume because bands post music and all that sort of stuff, but i don’t really need another one.
so how do i actually feel about ping?
i hate it. like, it is cool that i can follow bands and my friends and stuff, but i can do that on twitter…and facebook…and tumblr…and myspace…and every other social networking site that has ever existed forever.
i mean don’t get me wrong, i love Steve Jobs and Apple and the iPod and iTunes and everything like that, but this was a stupid idea. i use my iTunes to listen to music, to buy episodes of adventure time, and to make mix cds. i don’t want to follow bands and chat with my friends.
they just need to fix this and make it more interesting. right now it just seems like something i don’t want to update/check…ever. maybe it’ll break the hold that social networks have over me.
that is all i have to say about that.
i’m off to update facebook.

87th generation iPod nano.
September 18th, 2009 § 2 Comments
(yes, the title is a joke)
The new generation of iPods is coming out soon [this fall] and you should all be pretty excited…or as excited as you can be for the same exact product with one or maybe two new features. [I feel like each generation of iPod is like each new year/version of Madden].
Anyway, the new generation of iPod Nanos looks to actually be the best one since their debut. This one seems to have everything that an iPod [not Touch or Phone] should have always had. I’ll outline its features and let you decide whether or not its worth the $149 [8gb] and $179 [16gb] price tags.
- A bigger screen – The screen is now 2.2 inches instead of 1.7. That’s a whole half an inch bigger [and ladies, you know that size matters].
- FM Radio – Finally my iPod can let me listen to the radio [although if you have to rely on the radio...you probably need to have a less crappy iTunes library]. Also has a “Live Pause” option that lets you pause the radio.
- Voice Over – Your iPod will now tell you what song/artist you’re listening to without you having to look at it. [Not knowing what is on your iPod, ftw]
- A pedometer - Now you can track how far you walk/run while you exercise and rock out [forgive me for the 80's coming out in me]
- A voice recorder – Now you can be like Capt. Kirk or James Bond; record your thoughts or blackmail your friends. The possibilities are endless…so watch what you say.
Now, last but certainly not the least of the new features, is a video camera. I know what you’re thinking…how did Apple fit a video camera in something the length of my index finger. It [supposedly] takes clean audio, captures crisp video, and probably makes you more attractive to everyone around you.

So what is my verdict? I’m going to buy it. As soon as it comes out, this is going in my pocket.

songs you should have on your iPod – june 22, 2009.
June 22nd, 2009 § 2 Comments
I keep having really stressful weeks and it’s completely killed my drive to blog. Sorry guys. Well here are some songs you should put on your iPod because they are worth it.
#1. “Great White Whale” by Secret & Whisper off of Great White Whale. I was introduced to the sounds of S&W by a good friend and I fell in love with them the moment I heard them [the band not the friend, just to clarify.] —> Download!
#2. “Giving It Away (Acoustic)” by Mae off of Destination: B-Sides. Mae, as I’ve said before, is probably my favorite band. This song is pretty good in it’s normal version [Destination: Beautiful] but I like it more in it’s acoustic glory. —> Download!
#3. “Welcome to Atlanta” by Jermaine Dupri feat. Ludacris off of Instructions. I’m in Georgia and this song was on the radio twice today, so naturally I downloaded it. It’s a pretty good song and Ludacris never disappoints. —> Download!
#4. “Powder to the People” by Dance Gavin Dance off of Happiness. Dance Gavin Dance [incase you've never heard of them] is a hardcore band from California. “Powder to the People” is the final song off their newest album, Happiness. The album features songs with their old bassist [Jason Ellis] but they have a new bassist [Tim Feerick]. Check them out and enjoy —> Download!
#5. “Lollipop” by Lil Wayne off of Carter III. Lil Wayne is a musical god. ‘Nough said. —> Download!
#6. “I Put On” by Young Jeezy off of The Recession. I also heard this song on the radio today and it was better than decent. Young Jeezy is a pretty solid rapper so you’re sure to enjoy this song. —> Download!
#7. “Your Neck” by Alkaline Trio off of Crimson. I just realized the other day that I liked Alkaline Trio [I totally forgot I ever listened to them] so I’ve been enjoying their music lately. —>Download!
JUST FOR FUN
#8. “Love, Love, Love” by The Mountain Goats off of The Sunset Tree. I found The Mountain Goats on Moral Orel [a show on Adult Swim]. The song is really great, as is most of their music. —> Download!
I’ll be writing more often, so get ready people.

the new iPod shuffle.
April 8th, 2009 § 2 Comments
Okay, technology is getting way too small. Case in point: the new iPod Shuffle.
The new Shuffle is about the size of a baby carrot [or my first thought, a suppository]. One headphone, is literally half the size of the whole mp3 player. What would possess Apple to do such a thing?

3rd Generation iPod Shuffle.
I think Apple just wants to be the “MOST” at everything. This new shuffle is advertised as “The world’s smallest music player also happens to be the world’s first talking one. Two things that make the iPod shuffle one amazing device.” Why is that so important? Apple could probably sell anything they make, simply because there is a huge portion of the population that will buy their products, just for the sake of staying “hip” [I'm being slightly hypocritical since I bought a new orange iPod Nano, mostly because I needed a new iPod, but partly because it was orange and sexy].
Some cool things about the new shuffle:
- It holds 1000 songs. Yep, that’s right, it has 4gb of space.
- It talks. HOW COOL IS THAT! My iPod is now aware of what is going on and can talk to me.
- The VoiceOver technology [which I want to call iTalk] speaks 14 languages.
- You can have multiple playlists on your Shuffle, and you can change between them. Score.
- It’s super fashionable! It can even match your $300 shoes!
Some negative things about the shuffle:
- It is 1.8″ tall, and 0.3″ thin. What the hell? Nothing I know is that small.
- The buttons were moved to the headphones cord. I mean, that sounds like a good idea, but what if you lose your headphones? I’ll tell you what happens, you can’t use your iPod anymore and now you have a really expensive, really tiny, silent paper weight [that weighs less than paper].
- It only comes in two colors…Greyish White and Black.
I think the new iPod Shuffle might possibly be the best one they’ve made, even if it has a lot of ridiculous attributes. All in all, it might be tiny, but so is the price – $79.

So, iTunes has a radio…really? This finding made me ecstatic today. I listened to about an hour or two of a sweet British Alternative station. It brightened a very dull day [except for the extremely nice weather].
I learned today, that Apple now has everything you could ever need to exist. Congratulations Apple, you have developed a Utopian society. Thank you Mr. Wozniak and Mr. Jobs.
