a farewell to arms.

I have bad news.

So…I’ve been thinking lately that it is time to shut down “.a sound mind.” and move on to bigger and better things. We’ve had a pretty good run on the site and I’ve loved posting stuff over the past two and a half years, but all good things must come to an end.

Don’t worry.

I’m going to start a new website that will be even bigger and better than this one. There will be more frequent posts, a wider range of topic, and a bunch of new opinions.

The new site will hopefully be up sometime in June/July. I’m going to use the next few months to build the site and get all the affairs in order.

I will make another post when the site goes up so that for those of you who want to come check it out, you can.

Some “thank youshout outs are in order.

  1. Thank you to Terence “TheBlackNerd” Wiggins for writing for me. He is an awesome dude and I want nothing but the best for him.
  2. Thank you to KellyfreakingBeeeeee for playing Halo with me and being the best.
  3. Thank you to the internet for providing me with free music and awesome things.
  4. Thank you to stupid trolls for giving me idiotic stuff to laugh at you about.
  5. Thank you to Glen Beck for ruining the Republican Party.

So for the last time…

Take care of yourself, America.

band of the week.

June 26th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

I’m going to start doing a “Band of the Week” type thing.

So to debut my brand new section, this week’s band of the week is:

The TrippsThe Tripps

The Tripps are an alternative band from Virginia Beach, Va. I wrote a post about “local bands” a few days ago, and since they are local to me [the 757], I’m not going to say much about them except that they are a fantastic musical entity.

iTunes Store —> Buy!
“The Window Pane” —> Download!

Enjoy the sounds of The Tripps, I know you will.

Pygmy - May 5, 2009

Pygmy - May 5, 2009

Now, before any of you crucify me for being insensitive to these proud peoples, I am not talking about the actual pygmy people groups.

What I am talking about, however, is Chuck Palahniuk’s new novel that comes out this Tuesday [May 5, 2009]. Everyone really should be excited by this novel because Mr. Palahniuk puts out some fantastic works of fiction [Fight Club, Diary, Choke].

If you’re interested in knowing what the plot of the novel is —> The Cult

And this is just an exciting fact about my life, I got one of the posters for the novel. 1 of 200. Exciting. :D

Platypi are awesome.

Platypi are awesome.

I enjoy the music of the Flobots, which might completely take away any credibility I had built up with you, my reader. Now hear me out before you stop reading/following what I have to say.

The Flobots are political in a good way. There are bands and musicians who make political statements at their concerts and the press eats that stuff up. Example: The Dixie Chicks made anti-Bush statements in 2003 at a concert in London a few days before we went in to Iraq and destroyed their sovereignty [which means the Dixie Chicks were right before everyone else was right] —> http://tinyurl.com/cofohr [this is the only time I will ever link to FOXNews]

Handlebars is actually a really good song, even if it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense on the first listen. Handlebars is, obviously, an anti-war song [a huge portion of their songs are anti-war]. But the reason this song is so good, is because he references the platypus.

The Flobots have a comic book. What other band has a comic book? Umm…NONE [that come to mind]. Their comic follows what their music says, it basically makes their music visible. I found it this morning while I was looking to see if they have a new album coming out anytime soon [no].

“The Flobots” is an awesome name. And if you disagree, well I guess that is your right.

My main point of this post, is that they have a comic book and that is friggin sweet.

in the summertime.

April 27th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

So pretty much, it’s hot as Hell today. Literally. Hell and Virginia Beach [which are synonymous anyways] are the exact same temperature. Walking to class has been a chore today and a lot like a sauna [hooray humidity!].

Today feels like the beginning of the worst season, yes, summer. But it also reminded me of one of my favorite songs

—>

Take a look at the awesome vintage sideburns…I am definitely jealous.

I don’t really have anything of huge massive substance, just this. If you liked the song and want to download it, click here —> In The Summertime by Mungo Joe.

Enjoy, and stay cool everyone.
