wtf wednesday – february 17, 2010.

February 17th, 2010 § 2 Comments

Guess what guys! It’s Wednesday again, which means I’m about to lay the beat-down on things that totally deserve it [even if they are inanimate]. So lets get down to business [to defeat the Huns].

The “wtf” begins.

#1. Vince Vaughn – So I saw Couple’s Retreat last night with a bunch of friends and it was a pretty good film. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “WTF Cody, no one cares about your outings with your friends, nor do we care about what you have to say about the films that you see”, and I understand that hypothetical critic. But what surprised me about the film so much, was how much I didn’t hate Vince Vaughn.

Usually, whenever I see Vince Vaughn I get really angry and consider drop-kicking baby pandas until my rage has subsided, but last night his character reminded me too much of myself. Like how he takes people for granted and always makes excuses for everything and how he, though he didn’t realize it til later, has a lot to be happy for in his life despite all the issues that come up on the day-to-day.

So…this is a “wtf” because Vince Vaughn blew my mind by not being a tool for once.

WTF Vince Vaughn.

#2. Glenn Beck [and Conservatives] – It has finally come to my attention that Conservatives…Republicans…and Glenn Beck, will never change. I realize that being part of the “Old Guard” means that you don’t take kindly to change or anything forward thinking or anything like that. I get that. But Sarah Palin gave a speech where she referenced Obama’s message of “Change” and said this: “How is all that ‘hopey’ ‘changey’ stuff working out for you?”. If it were socially acceptable to hit women, I would have punched her in the face.

Tool of the Year.

I am no longer the Obamanazi that I used to be, but I still respect the man and respect the position of power that he is in. Don’t mock the things he is trying to achieve or stand in the way of them being achieved. Though I do think that Republicans vote against things like health care, economical changes, an end to the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, etc. because then they can bitch about how Obama doesn’t keep his promises.

Name one president who kept all his promises, and I’ll change political parties.

Oh, and Rush Limbaugh called Liberals a bunch of retards, in response to a Democrat calling some other Democrats a “Bunch of f*****g retards”. Just because someone else used the word, doesn’t mean you can too, Rush.

WTF Right Wing.

#3. The Social Security Office – So I filed my taxes and was expecting a nice skinny check back from the government for all the hard-work I’d done over the past year. Unfortunately, my dad got an email saying that the date of birth that the Social Security Office had for me, didn’t match the date of birth that I had for myself. So I can see where the SSO was trying to help me out by letting me fix my mistake…but it wasn’t my mistake.

Apparently, when I was born and that Social Security nonsense was being taken care, someone’s fat fingers pressed the wrong keys on their computer [or typewriter, technology has come a long way in the past twenty years]. So they had my birthday as being in 1991, instead of 1990. The only thing that really bothers me about this is the fact that it has been wrong for almost 20 years and no one caught it until yesterday. I’m 19 ladies and gentlemen, I feel like this should’ve been caught the first time I filed taxes…or the first time I was issued a Driver’s License. Shame on you 1990′s employee.

WTF Social Security Office.

There is a silver lining however. I went to the SSO today to get it all straightened out and I figured since it was a government run facility, like the DMV, that I would be there til 2011. But I went in there, got everything taken care of, and was out in five minutes. Yeah, you read that right. Five minutes.

Hooray government efficiency!

Now all we have to do is figure out a way to make the DMV that awesomely efficient. We can do it. We’re America.

Thanks for tuning in.

You stay classy, world.

Cody.

I think that the main problem with the DMV being as efficient as the SSO, is that there about 100 people who go into the SSO everyday while the DMV is carrying like 2k people a day! I think they just need to actually fill all the teller lines! Have you ever seen all the tellers working at the same time? No, Its always like 400 people in there and one fucking guy working behind the counter. It’s lamer than FDR’s legs!

  • Cody Kloock says:

I agreed with you until you said the comment about FDR…he is practically my hero.
