the gaslight anthem.

I’m learning how great The Gaslight Anthem is. I learned about them over the summer but haven’t really listened to them a whole lot until recently…because I had better things to do. So I finally decided to do something about that and I just picked up both of their albums and I realized…”Woah! They’re really good.”
Let’s Talk About The Gaslight Anthem.
The Gaslight Anthem is an Alternative band from New Jersey [don't judge]. Now I know what you’re thinking…only terrible things come from New Jersey [see Jon Bon Jovi, The Jonas Brothers, Gerard Way and the New York Jets], but the Gaslight Anthem is actually really good! [Kevin Smith and Jon Stewart are from NJ...so all isn't lost].
They were formed in 2007 and released their debut album Sink Or Swim also in 2007. Their second album, The ’59 Sound was released in 2008 [and isn't as good as Sink Or Swim in my expert opinion].
The Gaslight Anthem sort of sounds ska-ish [but only because I hear brass instruments...but there apparently aren't any...]. Their instrumentals have a punk feel to them and it sounds great.
Why The Gaslight Anthem Is Important.
They have reached a pretty impressive level of domestic and foreign recognition and success. The ’59 Sound was voted the #1 album of 2008 by eMusic. They were recognized as the “Best International Newcomer” in British magazine Kerrang!
Their music makes me happy and that is what gives bands their “importance factor” [in my opinion].
The Song I’ve Chosen For You.
So…here is the song “Boomboxes and Dictionaries” from Gaslight Anthem’s album Sink Or Swim. I really like this song and I probably listen to it three or four times a day [don’t judge]. It makes me feel like I’m driving around in the 1980′s for some reason, or that I’m in Hairstyles of the Damned by Joe Meno.
That’s all for now. If you have any suggestions on band’s we should highlight, let us know at comments.asoundmind@gmail.com
