the mixtape.

This Is The Type Of Person I Am.
It isn’t any secret that I am a complete sucker for mixtapes…well since technology has found a way to kill everything adorable…the mix CD. There is just something special about someone taking the time to find a bunch of things that other people said, to tell you how they feel about you. The mixtape lets you feel romantic and creative…without actually having to be creative.
But I Digress.
I like making mix CDs…they still feel special because you know…you have to get the music on to your computer and then burn it on to a CD…which is still much less work than the whole “tape recording” thing.
I Have Found The Answer, Brothers And Sisters…
With the inadvertent help of my dear pal Terence, I have discovered 8tracks.com. The concept of 8tracks is that you can make an 8 track [or more] mix, and post it on the site under your profile. You can then embed these little guys all over the internet on various websites in which you have profiles on [I'm looking at you MySpace/Maybe Facebook].
This Site.
Is perfect.
Okay…well maybe not perfect. It has a pretty basic design [sort of like Twitter] and doesn’t offer much as far as social networking goes [unless you want your network to be full of awesome little indie mixtape makers like I do]. It does however, give you the perfect way to make a blog, such as mine, legal as far as music goes.
Sad News…
I’m going to have to stop putting up downloads as often as I do. This will be my new medium for giving you suggestions. I will make a mix and discuss it. I’m sorry…
[I feel like I just lost the last two people that care about this site]
In Closing…
If you love mixtapes…you’ll love 8tracks.com.

a nerd, smitten.

So since this is my first post I figured why not go a little personal. I’ve recently become smitten with a girl and with that I’ve been listening to a lot of stupid love songs. And with Cody giving you a iPod suggestions, I might as well throw my hat into the ring and suggest to you…
TERENCE’S TOP FIVE STUPID LOVE SONGS WHEN YOU’RE SMITTEN WITH A GIRL
Okay, so maybe that title is a little long. Anyway, on with the countdown.
1. “You, You’re Awesome” by Do Make Say Think. This song is completely instrumental any you maybe asking me “Doesn’t a love song have lyrics?” and I’m asking you “You do know that I can’t hear you through the internet right?” But there’s something about this song that’s just ~wonderful~. It makes me think of a lazy Sunday afternoon, maybe lying around on the couch watching TV, or lying down in a hammock and just relaxing in the sun.
2. “Gesture” by Facing New York. “You make me feel so much you make me lose my cool all the time.” That lines sums up everything about liking a girl, at least for me. Not to mention that it’s an all around awesome song.
3. “Hey” by Backseat Goodbye. Probably the sappiest song that’s on the list. Almost every guy has met that girl he wants to take on picnics, go to the movies, or just walk and hold hands with. This is the song you stand outside her window and sing while playing an acoustic guitar, or holding a boombox if you’re John Cusack with a terrible haircut.
4. “Coffee” by Copeland. This has the same feel as the last song but with a more “Hey, I’m not in high school so I have a car and no curfew.” feel to it. This is the song that plays before the date scene in some indie romance comedy. This is the song that plays after you’ve had a long day and you get that text message that says “Hey, you wanna hang out tonight?” This is the song that plays when it’s 1 in the morning and you’re still not done talking about your day.
5. “It’s OK With Me” by Manchester Orchestra. This is the semi-depressing song on the list. I know I’m not most desirable male on the planet and yes I have glaring flaws and yes I am way too self deprecating and yes I’m stuck in a dead-end job AND YES… what was I writing about again? Anyway, I usually listen to this song when I driving home late at night or I’m sitting alone by myself. But this song plays for every lonely, depressed guy who finds out some awesome girl shows some interest in him. Just listen to the first chorus “And I know I’m not what you need, but it’s OK with me, yeah it’s OK with me.”
All right, enough my stupidity. I’m going to leave with you a playlist of these songs and a few extra stupid love songs to pad it out.
