“Kanye West is a jackass.” – Barack Obama, President of the United States.
I just felt it necessary to preface this post with that statement, made by the LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD. You know your country’s “pop-culture” is too wide-spreading when the president of your nation makes a comment about something that happened on MTV. That would be like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad commenting on something that happened on The Caves, the Middle Eastern equivalent of The Hills [yes, that was a joke].
So basically, in case you haven’t heard [which would mean you don't have a Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, a TV, the internet, a newspaper, or anything resembling a social life] at the Video Music Awards on Sunday night, Taylor Swift won the award for Best Female Video of 2009 [over Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Pink and Katy Perry]. So while Taylor Swift is overwhelmed and giving her little speech for winning such a…ermm…”prestigious” award, Kanye West in all his gay-fish glory stormed the stage and stole her mic.
I don’t necessarily like Taylor Swift [I'm quite partial to Katy Perry] but I still think what you’re about to read is messed up.
Sadly, once Kanye West stole her mic, he did not start singing “Swagga Like Us” [which means Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil' Wayne also did not appear]. What did happen, however, is just as entertaining. Kanye proceeded to say this:
“I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
In Mr. West’s head, that seemed like the best way to flatter someone. He simply couldn’t just walk up to her after the show and say “Sorry you didn’t win, but I think your video is (insert whatever an egotistical tool-bag would say)”.
So what did this accomplish?
- Kanye West was kicked out of the VMAs and his performance was canceled.
- Taylor Swift cried.
- Beyonce won an award and used her speech time to apologize to Taylor Swift.
- Barack Obama now hates Kanye West.
- Jay Leno made Kanye West cry.
So it is now official, Kanye West is trying to model his life around Jesus Christ’s. So congratulations Kanye West, the world wants to crucify you. You are one step closer to having your own religion.
