So it finally happened. The proof that I have been waiting for that there is, in fact, a God, has finally come down like so much tasty mana from heaven. Photo from E!

In a news release from Yahoo! News [which is a rewrite of an article from E!], it was stated that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has left the Smashing Pumpkins, leaving Billy Corgan alone at the upper middle.  Chamberlin had left the Pumpkins earlier in their career [in 1996 when he overdosed on heroine, which didn't kill him, just his career].

Corgan says that he plans on going to the studio later [unfortunately] on this year to record music [still under the Smashing Pumpkin's name] without Chamberlin.

The Smashing Pumpkins have been a band for 20 years [kind of.]  They broke up in 2000 for a six year hiatus, with only Corgan and Chamberlin coming back in 2006 with the release of their new album Zeitgeist in 2007. They are considered to be one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 90′s.

This starts a new chapter in the Smashing Pumpkins story, best of luck.

[I am not a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, but I respect their success]
