.what am i listening to? [march 09, 2009]

I’m going to start doing a daily/weekly top 5-10 artists/songs that I’m listening to heavily on repeat. [If you couldn't tell from all of the "/", I'm not quite sure how I want to format this]

1. Owl City – I bought Owl City’s most recent album Maybe I’m Dreaming and I fell in love with it. Look up “Dear Vienna”, “Rainbow Veins”, “The Saltwater Room”, or “Super Honeymoon” if you want a delightful musical experience. Owl City reminds me of the Postal Service [if you're in to that kind of thing, because I am]. Owl City

2. Mae – I am all about some Mae as of late. Mae are natives of Norfolk, Virginia and are just a really great band. Their new CD is an entirely charitable venture [and they are coming to the NorVa to release it in April!]. Mae is an Indie/Alternative band.

3. The Decemberists – I’m listening to a lot of their old stuff and the only new song they’ve released until their new album is released later this month. The Decemberists tell story driven songs that are awesome. Look up “Mariner’s Revenge” or go to their website and download “The Rake’s Song” if you still can.

4. Dick Annegarn – I do not speak French. Dick Annegarn, however, does. I heard one of his songs, “Coutances”,on The Science of Sleep soundtrack, and I downloaded it, and now I listen to it a lot. I looked up a translation…and it made me like the song a little less. It sounds beautiful in French.

5. Hit the Lights – iTunes would not get off my back about Hit the Lights so I finally got some of their music so it would shut up about it. Well, Genius was right again. Hit the Lights is actually pretty good. Look up “Drop the Girl” and enjoy.

Well…that’s what I’m listening to.

Cody.
