What Grinds My Gears; Part ∞
January 31st, 2009 § Leave a Comment
The song of the day is Mistakes We Knew We Were Making by Straylight Run.
So here is what is pissing me off today. Two things.
First: Me.
I keep making a lot of stupid mistakes and blaming them on being young and naive and stupid, but that really has nothing to do with it. I just don’t think things out fully before I do them. I just jump in to things before I really
consider all the possible repercussions of my actions.
I also keep dwelling on stuff I have absolutely zero control over. So, I’ve decided to only dwell on things I can effect directly, therefore, I hope it lowers my blood pressure and my stress. My heart can only take so much, you know?
Second: Other People.
I hate when people have something you want, and they flaunt it in your face; be it a car, a house, a job, a lover, money, etc. That’s rude, and shows a total lack of any type of humility or personality or soul. It’s a blatant disregard for another human beings feelings, and I think people that do that should get kicked in the face with high heels.
I don’t know why it bothers me so much when people flaunt the things that they’ve “earned”…probably because I don’t often get the chance to do the same. Whatever…it’s just been on my mind today.
More later.

My breakfast today sucked, along with my financial situation.

First attempt at a non-sucky video post.
Song of the day: Just Say Yes by Punchline.
Year One; Semester Two

Alright, so I’m back at Virginia Wesleyan again. Hooray for them refusing to give me half of my room and board money back! Anyway, I tried all day to make a decent video to post as my blog, but obviously I failed since this post is in text format.
So my schedule on Mondays and Wednesday is pretty packed from 9am-4:30pm [this sucks, and makes me slightly unhappy]. I only have one class on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays [which makes me slightly happy, leaving me neutral about my schedule].

This picture has absolutely nothing to do with my post.
Me and my roommate are getting along pretty well so far. Everyone that caused problems on our hall is gone, so maybe this semester won’t suck as bad as last semester. Everything with my life seems to be in order…which is sexy. I think my relationships with people are finally fixed, or atleast moving towards being fixed, which once again, is sexy.
I’ll try to keep this thing updated as much as I can, but it probably won’t be “a post a day” like it has been.
Stay tuned, kids.

My Next Post…

I think my next post is going to be a video-blog. I think they are interesting…maybe I’ll give it a shot and see how much of an idiot I can make myself out to be.
So…this’ll probably happen later today. Stay tuned…
The Glass Passenger.

Side projects always somehow create the best bands [see The Postal Service - a side project of Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello]. Similarly, when artists leave their old projects and start completely new ones, it ends up being for the better more often than not. Anyway, back to side projects…enter Jack’s Mannequin.
Jack’s Mannequin is a side project of Andrew McMahon, formerly the lead singer and piano-man of Something Corporate [which isn't a half bad musical entity in their own right]. Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin sound very distant, despite being written by the same man.
Jack’s Mannequin ha
s been around since ’04 with the release of the album Everything In Transit. These songs are more personal and “theraputic” in the way they are delivered. They sound like McMahon is reaching in to his soul and just pouring it out for the listeners to pick up.
The Glass Passenger, which after being delayed for the better part of 2008, was finally released in September of ’08. I bought the album on iTunes today, and I’m very pleased with it. There are a lot of songs on it that just kind of hit me in a good way, and I like that in a CD.
There are 19 songs on the album [and it only cost $11.99 on iTunes, which I guess is a good deal]. Two of the tracks are live recordings of songs from Everything In Transit: “Holiday From Real” and “Kill the Messenger”.
Jack’s Mannequin is one of the reasons I love piano-rock. They are the ones that do it for me [them and Ben Folds]. I almost want to learn piano…so I can play their songs.
Main point of this post: This album is excellent. Buy it. :]
Until next time,
Cody
