Hope

Last night, Barrack Obama spoke at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

I was there.

I stood 40 feet from the man who should be the next president of the United States. He gave an amazing speech about a host of issues that mean a lot to me. Like education and how he wants kids to learn not just math and science and history, but that he wants the youth of America to learn poetry and art and music. I get the feeling that this man actually cares about this country, not just so he can say that he is “The President of the Free World”.

But the speech he made, was also an emotional one. He talked about HOPE. And how his entire life has been based around the concept of HOPE. His speech made my chest tighten and it inspired me.

Hope is a marvelous thing. I have hope in my future. I have hope in the way my situation right now will turn out. I have hope that happiness, the way it used to be, is right around the corner and I have hope that I won’t mess it up like I did in the first place.

Barack Obama, if by some strange chance you read this young man’s blog, you’ve inspired me. I will do great things in my life because you came to my city. You came to promote your campaign, but what you really did, was promote Hope. And I thank you sir. I thank you.

Where Am I?
